When planning your facelift surgery, you may wonder if you are a good candidate for the procedure. As such, there is no specific age at which the procedure has to be performed, although it is usual in people who are already over 30 years of age.

Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Instructions for Face and Neck Lifting in Turkey assisted by IXALMED
Pre-operation instructions:
• Stop using any makeup materials and don’t color your hair for at least 1 week before. Chemicals are dangerous for your skin with open incisions and your healing period.
• Do not take medications or vitamin supplements that contain aspirin, ibuprofen (for example, Advil, Motrin, Aleve, etc.) because they can affect blood clotting.
• Stop smoking before at least 4 weeks. Nicotine slows down the healing period.
• Stop using all medicines or herbal supplements. They can affect blood clotting.
• Stop drinking alcohol at least 2 days before your surgery.
• If you are taking any medical treatment please inform your consultant at least 2 weeks in advance.
• Stop eating or drinking anything for 8 hours before surgery.
• Prefer clothing that does not need to be pulled over the head (button-down tops and pants, zip-up shirt, sweatpants, etc.).
• Do not take wristbands, watches, or anything of value to the hospital on the day of your surgery (everything you take will have to be removed to enter the operating room).
• Remove contact lenses, jewelry, and wigs before surgery.
Post-operation instructions:
• Usually bruising and swelling can be expected after face lift surgery. It can last 2 weeks or more depending on your body.
• Try to eat a bland diet for the first week as it will limit jaw movement and aid your healing period.
• Take medications as directed by your surgeon.
• Avoid excessive facial movements, such as smiling, talking, yawning, and chewing for the first week.
• Do not remove the bandages or touch the treated areas. The bandages will be removed by your surgeon at your check-up appointment prior to your return home, after that you will no longer have to wear bandages.
• Restrict head and neck movements after surgery, rotate neck and shoulders at the same time for a while, as instructed by your surgeon.
• Keep your head up during the day and at night while sleeping and sleep on your back.
• Apply ice and cold packs to your face according to your surgeon’s instructions.
• Apply sunscreen to your face according to your surgeon’s instructions.
• Avoid bending over and lifting heavy objects for at least 1 month.
• Stay away from strenuous activities for at least 4 weeks.
