How is the Mastopexy (Breast Lift Surgery) performed in Turkey assisted by IXALMED?
Normally the mastopexy procedure is performed under general anesthesia, the operation lasts about 2 hours, but it can vary depending on the case of each patient and how extensive the work is. This procedure can be combined with full breast augmentation, reduction, or reconstruction.
Breast lift surgery is performed through incisions in the breasts, and there are different types of incisions to be used depending on the case of each patient:
• Peri-Areolar or Donut Lift (mild sagging with a single scar): involves a circular incision that runs around the edge of the areola, which can also be effective in helping to reduce the size of the areola and is commonly performed in conjunction with breast augmentation. The resulting breast lift scar marks the edge of the areola.
• Crescent lift (minimal scarring to correct minimal sagging) – involves a small incision midway around the upper half of the areola edge and is usually only performed in conjunction with breast augmentation.
• Lollipop or vertical lift (moderate sagging and extensive remodeling): involves 2 incision scars, around the edge of the areola and extending vertically from the bottom of the areola to the inframammary crease, thus creating a “lollipop” shape. It is commonly used as it allows to remove excess skin and reshape the breast with ease to hide it.
• Inverted T or Anchor Lift (Extensive Sagging and Dramatic Reshaping) – Removes a significant amount of excess skin and sagging tissue for the best results. This technique involves 3 incision scars, around the edge of the areola, vertically from the bottom of the areola to the breast fold, and along the inframammary fold, hidden in the breast fold.
It is important to remind patients that it is their IXALMED associate surgeon who decides which type of incision to use so that they have the best results according to each particular case. Scars from the operation are permanent, however they can be made less visible over time and with the help of scar treatments.
Post operation instructions of Breast Lift Surgery in Turkey assisted by IXALMED
Pre-operation instructions
Do not use alcohol, smoke cigarettes, or chew tobacco for at least two weeks before surgery.
Do not take any product that contains ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, or vitamin E.
Do not drink or eat anything before midnight for your surgery. A fast is required to receive sedation for surgery.
You can shower and wash your hair the morning of surgery.
Wear comfortable clothing, we recommend button-down shirts that do not have to go over your head to put on or take off.
Do not use makeup, hairspray or gels, nail polish, or false eyelashes for your surgery.
Do not wear jewelry or bring valuables to your breast lift surgery.
Post-Operation Instructions
Wear the postoperative bra for as long as your surgeon indicates.
Sleep on your back for the first month after the operation.
Avoid smoking (tobacco negatively affects healing and increases the chances of infection and other complications) and drinking alcohol for at least two weeks.
Take all medications according to your surgeon’s instructions.
You can walk on the day of surgery and afterward to avoid developing blood clots, move your legs frequently as well.
Some bruising and swelling are expected and it takes 3-6 months to see final results.
Wear support stockings for at least 5 days after breast lift surgery.
Don’t exercise for the first week. After this week, you can resume low-intensity lower-body exercises; however, avoid using your upper body muscles for 3 weeks. You can resume all exercise / activity after 3 weeks thereafter.
Drink plenty of fluids for the first week to stay well hydrated.
You can take a full shower after 3 days of your breast lift surgery. It’s okay to wet the steri strips at this point, but don’t remove them. You can gently towel dry or use a hair dryer (cold setting) to dry the sterile strips.
Breast lift is an inpatient surgery and is performed under general anesthesia. It is very important that you follow the instructions of your plastic surgeon to ensure that your healing process runs optimally.
